HEALTH HAZARD ALERT – GROUND BEEF SOLD BY SUPERSTORE, KELOWNA MAY CONTAIN PIECES OF GLASS

OTTAWA, February 13, 2009 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Real Canadian Superstore are warning the public not to consume the ground beef described below because it may contain pieces of glass.

The fresh Lean Ground Beef Club Pack affected by this alert was sold in store packed 2.5 kg trays bearing Best Before date Feb 12, 09 and UPC 283460 913732 from Real Canadian Superstore, 2280 Baron Road, Kelowna, BC. The label, however, bears the name of Westfair Foods, Calgary, Alberta.

There have been no reported injuries associated with the consumption of this product.

Superstore, Kelowna is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.
